Education and Youth Activities
Youth events are free for all to attend. During events, no pets are allowed – certified service animals only. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy as no food or beverages will be available. All events are held outdoors. Kite Flying Weekend May 10th and 11th, From 10:00 am until 2:00 pm both days Free kites for children while they last, glider plane kits, craft activities and giant bubbles. Cameron and Reina Kauffman will bring their assortment of colorful kites. Bring your own kite if you have one! Agricultural Heritage Day Tuesday, June 17th, From 10:00 am until Noon Nevada Farm Bureau’s Ag in the Classroom “AG Mobile,” an activity by Nevada State Railroad Museum of Carson City, a variety of craft activities and a scavenger hunt! Dare To Be A Cowboy! Wednesday, July 30, From 10:00 am until Noon Saddle up for a fun morning learning about ranching. Includes cowboys and cowgirls, branding, roping, join a scavenger hunt on our “history trail”, and receive a Will James Society book for children. Pony Express Day Tuesday, August 5, From 10:00 am until Noon The re-riders of the National Pony Express Association—Nevada Division will demonstrate mail mochila exchanges, A Chautauqua of Warren Upson who was an original rider, The Ham Radio Operators Club Will share what they do to help the riders today. Hands-on activities and join the scavenger hunt. Gertrude’s Garden Day Sunday, September 21, From 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Get your thumbs green with hands-on activities with help from the members of Heritage Park Gardens / Main Street Gardnerville Volunteers club. Nevada’s Mining Heritage Sunday , October 19, From 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Get your thumbs dirty and learn about gold and mining with help from professional geologists. |
